Dear SeeKers of a New Modern Industrial Place to Kick Back a Beer or Three:
Oh...Hey, that sounds like our new place. Come check it ouT. We have moved ALL operations--brewing, retail, accounting, sales, marketing, mayHem--to 8111 Dimond Hook Drive. It's officiaL and insane. We've got great parking, LoTs more retail and brewery space and, of course, crazy cooL BeeR! We'll have our BiG sunny SunFace LoGo on the street-facing bay door next week. Until then, head EAST on Dimond Blvd; turn NORTH on Petersburg Street; and turn EAST on Dimond Hook Drive. We are right next to Dimond Electric. Just call us @ 344-1179 if you get LoST. Operators are standing by. We want to WaVe U in.
Note: The only TRiCK is to stay on E. Dimond Blvd and not be tempted to make the automatic south turn on Hartzell-Abbott. So GeT in that LEFT TURN lane and do The Squiggle to stay on E. Dimond, which runs on the northside of AK Serigraphics and Home Depot. It is sO worth it.
Up in the LOFT, we are serving our fabulous beers in 6- and 12-oz glasses. Most of these beers are also available for growler- and keg-fills but some are BTG [by-the-glass] only. RIght now our BTG's are EARTH Chocolate Milk Stout, URANUS 100% Brettanomyces Golden Ale and SLOTH Belgian-style Imperial Stout. Don't miss ouT on these really sick beers. Beer hounds like mE sniff and snuff out these beers quickly. Like, DuH, right?
Check out the World Beard and Moustache Championships on FRI/SAT the Dena'ina Center downtown. Click HERE for the schedule and more info. Make sure to enjoy The Official BeeR of WBMC 2009, Old Whiskers Hefeweizen, at the Dena'ina Center and all WBMC-related events through SUN. 240 competitors from aLL over the world, including Anchorage. And...our new OW tees are iN, Baby! MSBC logo on front, new label art on back and "Grow Your Own" on the sleeve. Two tee color choices: Sapphire and Oceana--just come see!
Next FRI 5/29 we release Cafe Amsterdam's 10th Anniversary Gruit in 22's and on draft for BTG [by-the-glass] service. It's nearly 12% ABV. And after a glass or three, you won't remember what any of these dang acronyms mean. Cafe A's motto on the label and tees is "no hops were harmed in the brewing of this beer" and that's because this gruit contains no hops. Instead some fruit and spices were used to balance the sweetness of this dark malty elixir. Happy BiG 1-oH!
The next Crew Brew beer -- FAHRWASSER Pilsner [by Reid] -- was debuted at the new building on FRI 5/15. Reid's choice of beer is a gorgeous, nicely hopped pilsner that is perfect for the fairway and/or whatever summer has to offer. We brewed a double batch but, with this weather, Fahrwasser will certainly FLY out of the brewery in 22's, growlers and kegs.

The fourth in our 2009 Crew Brew series debuts on FRI 5/15 at the NEW brewery. 2009 Crew Brew Series: Reid is our onsite go-to beer guy who handles the bulk of our to-go beer sales. Reid is a full-time UAA student who manages to sell beer at MSBC, run a side welding business, keep the golf discs flying all year-round & create music with his band, Bushwood. He wrote and performed his song “No 9 to 5”, which resonates his idea of a fairway to heaven. Get our iTunes iMix; add No 9 to 5. |
In case you did not get the memo and/or "see green" above, WE WILL BE CLOSED ON MON MAY 25 MEMORIAL DAY. Beer WAY uP and do it early. However--as a far-out warning, we will be
OPEN on SAT JUL 4 INDEPENDENCE DAY. We are shootin' for a FRI JUL 3 release of the next 2009 Crew Brew beer: Big Slick American Barley Wine by sales guy Grant. Yeah. That's how we roll iT out--a BiG, JuiCy HoP Barley Wine on the hottest weekend in possibly the hottest month of the hottest summer here in a very long time. I'm already feelin' the hot heaT just writing about it. But only The Beer really knows when it will be ready so stay tuned...and try to stay cooL. |
TUE 5/26 marks the first game for Anchorage Adult Baseball [AAB]. Come support MSBC's beer-sponsored team--the Fairview Pirates; wear pirate garb and show yer "argh-ness". Brewer Ben was the team mascot in past years but, since he's playing 'ball this summer, we are lookin' for a rowdy guy/gal to fill in. I think there's an eyepatch, bandana and parrot 'round here somewhere. Email Ben if you wanna "hook" it up. ArrgGH.
And our favorite AK Baseball League [ABL] team, Anchorage Glacier Pilots, takes base on MON JUN 8 @ 7 PM with an exhibition game against the Anchorage Bucs. Click HeRe for deets on the season's MAY 31 kickoff party, the schedule, stats and lots, lots more. Make sure to grab a cold MSBC beer in the beer garden, which runs along first base line.
Beer/Food Pairings of the Week: La Mex celebrates 40 YEARS this month--sO get over to either the Spenard or Dimond/King location to wash down that spicy salsa and salty chips with La Mex's Mango-Lime Chelada Beer by La Mex & Midnight Sun. Completely quenching and refreshing, this chelada beer combines sweet, tart and spicy to give you an exciting alternative to margaritas...and, uh, BeeR. All we need now is a white, hot sandy beach.
WHoo-Hoo! MSBC is Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau's [aka ACVB's] MAY Member of the Month. Mark and Gary just attended a luncheon this week to pick up the award. Thanks to the board and members of ACVB for this award!
We've got LoTs of FaBuLouS, FRiVoLouS FuN for you this and every season. Come by the NEW brewery. The BeeR is aLways BOLD.
Cheers,Barb Miller
